IPSNS Functions-Zero Impact Backup and Restore

Internet Data Center Benefits:

Remote Replication & Mirroring:

Employing IPSNS's replication function, Internet Data Centers can replicate data to remote sites ensuring that their data is protected in the event of failure or disaster. By mirroring locally across multiple IPSNS RAID storage systems and replicating to remote locations, Internet Data Centers can create multiple databases for customers to quickly retrieve their data.

Virtualization:

Storage virtualization is the ability to combine multiple physical storage devices (Tapes drives and RAID storage systems) of various interface protocols (SCSI or Fibre Channel) into logical storage pools. These pools can be partitioned into large or small virtual drives and be easily administered and shared. Virtualized pools can provision either SAN for block level storage or NAS for file sharing. Virtualization allows storage space to be aggregated and maximized resulting in greatly improved efficiency.

IDC Solutions

Manageability:

IPSNS is easy to use and bestows administrators with the ability to manage information, locally or remotely, from one central location. A Java-based management

console is implemented to deliver advanced features like device discovery, access control, messaging, self-monitoring, event notification, diagnostics and reporting. An intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows administrators to "see" the data they are controlling by providing Windows-like functionality (Point-and-click icons, color screens, installation Wizards and popup windows). IPSNS supports Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) which means system operators can manage IPSNS from any networking management console. And utilizing IPSNS snapshot feature, Internet Data Centers can provide their customers duplicated data sets for use in application testing.

Scalability:

A device independent architecture and an IP-based transport allows IPSNS to easily scale to suit your business environment. And through the IPSNS virtualization engine, Internet Data Centers can offer additional storage on-the-fly to their customers without disrupting existing data.

Connectivity:

IPSNS's networking interface is based on IP, the most common networking protocol in use today. Leveraging IP's connectivity, IPSNS is a highly interoperable solution that unifies SAN & NAS and operates on heterogeneous platforms often found at Internet Data Centers. Distance limitations disappear as storage is consolidated across the LAN, MAN or WAN. By utilizing the existing IP framework already in place, IPSNS connects isolated servers to storage pools throughout the enterprise and unites global storage islands creating a highly centralized and flexible infrastructure.

High Availability (HA):

With IPSNS's high availability feature, Internet Data Centers can ensure information is continuously available to their customers with zero downtime. IPSNS can be configured in an active-active, dual-path, no single point of failure configuration to effectively protect "heartbeat". Should one server go down, the paired server automatically takes over the failed server's workload with no operator intervention needed.

Security:

IPSNS provisions virtual blocks of data with key-based authentication to eliminate the potential for spoofing. IPSNS adheres to strict security polices to assure that virtual drives are only accessed by authorized servers or authorized personnel. Additionally, IPSNS can take advantage of Virtual Private Networks to create end-to-end data security.

Centralized and Advanced Backup Performance:

IPSNS's LAN-Free and Server-less Backup Enabler offloads backup duties from servers and the network directly to tape or storage devices effectively freeing up server CPUs to focus on other tasks, freeing up the network and reducing bottlenecks. IPSNS's Zero Impact Backup and Restore Enabler offers advanced backup features, is fully compliant with popular third-party backup software (such as Veritas' NetBackupTM and BakBone NetVaultTM) and single backup solution can now handle all your backup needs, resulting in substantially reduced 3rd Party Backup software licensing fees.
